Tattu, Edinburgh

The word ‘Tattu’ derives from a combination of the words, ‘Tattoo’ the art form which inspires their interiors, and ‘Tatau,’ an ancient word meaning to ‘make a mark,’ and with their bold, exciting interiors they certainly achieve that! Polished with a strong black herringbone wood floor from our Woodworks by Ted Todd Superwide portfolio, the restaurant immerses diners by fusing together beautiful design, with revolutionary Chinese cooking.

No two Tattu’s are ever the same, and the ‘u’ in Tattu represents this – this individuality is a passion we share, as all our wood floors are unique in aesthetic. Taking your time to look through the restaurant’s intricacies is a real treat and there are stories to discover in every nook and cranny.

For this project, we were approached by award-winning commercial and residential interior design agency – Edwin Interior Design who specialising in unique, inspirational and atmospheric interiors for bars and restaurants. Edwin Design shares so many of our values, and that’s why we love working with them. There is no design too innovative, and here, for example, sitting under the traditional blossom tree gives guests an experience of the traditional East like nowhere else in the West.

Working alongside our Studio Leisure team, Edwin Design chose Ebony, in both herringbone and plank formats to deliver their design for this special Edinburgh restaurant. Ideal for all kinds of contemporary interiors, Ebony provides strong, rich tones of black and a sleek monochromatic finish.  This floor is available form our Woodworks by Ted Todd Superwide portfolio and is a celebration of British hardwood-flooring craftsmanship.

Every detail of a Tattu restaurant has been considered to ensure that it connects with the identity of the brand. The final result takes you on a sensory journey in every aspect.

Edwin Design’s award-winning approach to their interior design should leave you feeling inspired. With a new take on a traditional style, they highlight why Woodworks by Ted Todd are always pushing the boundaries of what is possible in terms of design, finish and tones.
